Brazil-Paraguay agreement secures international bridge
Bridge will join the municipality of Porto Murtinho (MS) and the district of San Lázaro (Paraguay)
The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has signed an agreement with Paraguayan authorities to build a bridge over the Apa River. Signed on Tuesday (14), the measure will create a road connection between the municipality of Porto Murtinho (MS) and the district of San Lázaro (Paraguay). The bridge will make it possible to bring cargo from the Brazilian Midwest straight to the river port of Concepción.
A joint commission was created between Brazilians and Paraguayans to start the project. On the Brazilian side, the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (Dnit) will supervise the construction, which will be funded by the Paraguayan government. The start and completion date of the project, as well as the total cost, are still to be set by the commission.
