Amazon preservation receives US$ 80 million boost
Funds will be allocated to protected areas, indigenous lands and preservation technologies
Amazonian conservation projects have just secured new resources for the next five years: A Brazil-US technical cooperation agreement will lead to an US$ 80 million investment in the biome protection programme.
Under the agreement signed on Tuesday between by Brazilian and US governments, protected areas, indigenous lands and preservation technologies will have priority in the allocation of the funds. These resources will be relayed by environmental agencies such as the Ministry of Environment, ICMBio and Funai to be invested in these sectors.
