Foreigners and Brazilians who do not have Portuguese as their mother tongue can now apply for the Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese as a Foreign Language (Celpe-Bras)’s 2018 sitting. Registration for the exam begins on Monday (18 June) and follows until 13 July, subject to availability of seats at the chosen Exam Post.

This year, the testing period will increase from three to five days, from October 1st to 5th. In order to register, participants must provide a valid passport number or an identification document valid in the country of the exam, in addition to creating a password.

After completing the requested forms, applicants must pay the registration fee according to the guidelines and the price established by the Exam Post. The amount charged should be a maximum of R$ 200 for accredited exam posts in Brazil and US$ 100 for those accredited abroad. The payment slip must be delivered to the respective post by 18 July.

Registrations will only be confirmed after proof of payment has been issued, except in exam posts that offer the test for free. The period for validation of registrations will be from 18 June to 23 July, 2018, and is the full responsibility of the Exam Post. Participants must keep track of their registration at celpebras.inep.gov.br/inscricao. After validation, the Exam Post will schedule the date and time for the oral test.

Accredited Exam Posts in Brazil and abroad will ensure specialised and specific services to participants with special needs. The impairment must be proven at registration, at which time the applicant must also indicate any special adaptations required.
